Social Media Association for Business – thank-you and goodbye!
I’m stepping down as chairperson of the Social Media Association for Business after six very enjoyable six months. It has been a real pleasure working with my team in the steering group, and meeting so many of you at our events. I think it’s important to keep things fresh and hand the reins over to someone else – and it’s time for me to re-focus on my twin babies (Soul Ambition and my music; that’s not a shock announcement…)!
I took on the volunteer position of chairperson at a time when a lot of people were feeling the need to start using social media for their businesses but were confused or anxious about ‘doing it right’; the SMA4B meet-ups were a great way to share best practice and hear some fascinating case studies to inspire discussion and action. I hope some of you who were on the fence about the power of social media came away from them inspired by our speakers and the open-floor conversations, and that those who were overwhelmed or worried about the field found some clarity and take-away ideas you could implement straight away. The team and I have been very glad to get your feedback about what was helpful and what topics you wanted us to cover at our events – and we’re very grateful to all our speakers and panellists who gave up their time to lead/join the conversations. Huge thanks too to our event partners and sponsors who made it possible to host these events for free, and provide refreshments.
Keep it social,
